An Introduction to the National Standards

The National Standards for Volunteer Involvement provide a sound framework for supporting the volunteer sector in Australia. The Standards are much easier to follow and are adaptable to different organisation types and different forms of volunteering which reflect the diversity of this growing sector.

  • They provide good practice guidance and benchmarks to help organisations attract, manage and retain volunteers, and
  • Help manage risk and safety in their work with volunteers.

This Overview session kicks off a series of webinars that explores what each of the standards are and how to implement them within your organisation.



The Centre for Volunteering: Accessible Volunteering and the National Standards

Webinar looks at each of the standards and how they link to accessible and inclusive volunteering.

Concepts covered include:

  • Understanding Inclusive Volunteering.
  • Understanding why we strive to be inclusive.
  • Identifying barriers to inclusion.
  • Having the knowledge to reduce the impact of barriers; and,
  • Understanding what it means to be part of an inclusive team.
  • Understanding how each of the standards of the volunteering links to inclusive volunteering
