About the Showcase

A major element of The Centre’s implementation of the Volunteer Management Activity is creating partnerships with community experts through the Project Partnerships Program.

Join Senior Lecturer, Dr.Sojen Pradhan for a showcase of their project “Increasing Volunteer Participation for Student Migrant Communities." Hear how the project was devised, how the resources developed can be used by volunteer managers to improve their volunteer programs and to encourage and support volunteering through embracing diversity and inclusivity.

About the Project

The “Increasing Volunteer Participation for Student Migrant Communities” project consists of 4 e-learning modules focusing on engaging new migrants as volunteers, in particular students.

At completion of this module volunteer managers will be able to:

  • Understand the demographics of migrant volunteers in Australia,
  • Explore the common challenges faced by student migrant volunteers when studying and living in Australia,
  • Reinforce volunteering benefits to overcome barriers faced by student migrant volunteers,
  • Develop strategies to create a successful volunteer journey for both volunteers and volunteer managers.
