This unit focuses on the ways and means of recruiting, inducting and supporting volunteers. You’ll explore the broad landscape of volunteering, understanding the critical roles and demographics that shape this sector and the significant impact volunteers have on non-profit organisations. You'll also delve into volunteer recruitment, learning how to structure and manage volunteer roles effectively, which includes crafting roles, understanding the rights and responsibilities of volunteers, and adhering to national standards.


The unit enhances your skills in attracting volunteers by learning how to develop appealing marketing strategies and engaging community networks to boost recruitment. You’ll be guided through the essential practices of selecting volunteers, including screening, interviewing, and managing risks to ensure a safe and efficient volunteer program.


Finally, you'll gain an understanding of developing and implementing a volunteer induction program, ensuring a smooth and welcoming integration of volunteers into your organisation. By the end of this course, you'll be equipped with the knowledge to effectively engage, manage, and retain volunteers, contributing significantly to your organisation's success and mission.

Volunteer Recruitment Essentials - In this module, you’ll learn the essentials of structuring and managing volunteer roles within your organisation. We'll start by identifying suitable volunteer positions and building a recruitment strategy that's sustainable. You’ll also find out how to apply volunteering models to craft these roles effectively.


Attracting Volunteers - In this module, you'll explore the role of organisational attractiveness to recruitment, focusing on how your image and brand impact volunteer attraction. You'll delve into the costs involved in recruitment and learn practical strategies for creating effective volunteer tasks.


Volunteer Selection Essentials - This module covers essential practices for screening, interviewing, and selecting volunteers, highlighting the importance of robust recruitment and risk management to ensure the safety and efficiency of your organisation. You'll explore different aspects of the volunteer screening process, including ongoing supervision and how to handle unsuitable volunteer candidates.


Volunteer Induction Essentials - In this module, you'll learn about developing and implementing a volunteer induction program, a crucial aspect of volunteer management. You'll explore topics including the essentials of induction and onboarding, establishing effective communication, and assessing the value of volunteers.
